Now here are few words about this project & technique from CarrieCan blog : “I designed the mural for my sisters bedroom. The drawing was done in Illustrator and then projected on the wall using a video projector.

I traced the outline with a pencil. And then started filling it in making sure the pencil marks we’re covered. I used artist paint brushes for this. It took about 3 coats to get the color right. I used lacquer paint because it was a leftover from a different project but I would advise people to use emulsion or acrylic paint for a smoother finish (with lacquer it’s very hard to get rid off ’stripes’ from the paint brush.”

I’ve been thinking about having my own room again dedicated to creative pursuits, an idea that I plan to put into motion in the months ahead. It also means I will have to move but I’m okay with that because I’ve realized that I can no longer accept my current space as being sufficient enough.

It’s not, I need the space. I work from home decorator, it’s important to have plenty of room for the many projects I have my hands in right now. It’s like everybody’s playing it safe and simple. I miss a good splash of joyful color. So here I have a treat with this transformation of a home equity rates from 1900 from Chene-Bougerie, Switzerland into a color premier baths for the eye and the soul.

Made between 2006-2007, this renovation is truly remarkable for it manages to keep the distinct air of an old architecture adding a modern twist, a fresh air with strong colors and clear lines. I could definitely use some Group8 color therapy!

Yaya house / Manuel Ocaña, Architect: Manuel Ocaña Arquitectos, Location: Calle Pelayo, Madrid, Spain, Collaborators: Roberto González García, Maja Frackowiack, Michael Rabold y, Sebastian Camacho (ground painting), Project year: 2005-2006.

The work starts at floor level after the usual procedures of spatial and structural cleansing. That floor, that wood surface, shall unveil the encountered traces. On the one hand detecting the traces, discovering a network of concealed geometries that are outlined when laying the floors through a precise detailing of the boards; on the other, the new traces are stamped by drawing on top of the discovered geometries the portrait of the beautiful woman that will live in the new home decorator.

This involves a carpenter, an enthusiastic student of fine arts, Photoshop, the Xiladecor palette on the market, aniline and a set of gouges to engrave the drawing in the terrace. End of the first stage.The unveiled geometry and the three rear windows determine the repositioning of the partition walls that define the two bedrooms and bathroom required. And the leitmotiv of the next step of the building protocol is ‘on top and dry’.

Everything built is dry and on top of… there are no interferences; not among the material engineering, not among systems, not among the guilds that participate. The trace of the portrait is silenced by placing the partitions and bush furniture on top. There are only wonderful stains on the floor. Perhaps the next resident will discover the secret.
